How to Trasfer Files Between two Android Devices using WiFi - Without any App

The technology used – WiFi Direct

How to share files from one android device to other through WiFi? How to send large files faster than Bluetooth?
If your query is something similar to these two, here is the answer. Let me make it clear to you – I am not talking about any mobile application? The process requires – No Internet, No Cable, No Bluetooth, No other network other than WiFi.
Requirement – Two WiFi enabled Android Devices working on a platform of Android 4.0 (API level 14 or later version.

The technology used – WiFi Direct

WiFi Direct is a feature in android phones that allow many devices interact directly with each other without the need to go through a router. You can print pictures directly from other device, play two player games through two devices using this feature. This is a newer technology than traditional Bluetooth, is fast, and transfers files at a much greater speed. No intermediate access point is required. Moreover, it works at longer distance between two devices than in Bluetooth. I have tried it and now always use WiFi to transfer files from my friend’s android mobile.

How to send files using WiFi Direct?

“Is it a very techie task”? Did you ask this? You need not worry, this is as simple a process as transferring data through Bluetooth.

Turn on WiFi on both the two devices between which you want to transfer files. Open the WiFi settings menu in he phone from which you want to transfer the files. Touch-select WiFi Direct
(Slide it "On"). Now, it must automatically start scanning and searching for other devices. Choose the “phone model” or “device model” to which you want to connect. Tap on the device from the list. It will ask for a confirmation on the other device. Now, tap accept/allow. The two devices are now connected through WiFI Direct now.

Send Files Now

Open your file manager; select (tap and hold) any file which you want to share. Touch WiFi direct option to share the file. If you want to send multiple files at a time, open the file folder and touch the share button at the top right of the screen and choose WiFI Direct. Now, mark the files you want to send and tap "Done" to confirm. You see a message that the file is being sent.
Check the other device, the progress bar might be visible when you slide down the slider from top (as in android devices). You can send single image, video or can mark several files or can even send a folder through this process.

All files shared through this process will be found in the “Share Via WiFi” folder in your phones internal SD card.
